Don’t believe the myths that a heat pump can only work if your house is a new build, has been repiped, or is insulated like baked beans inside a toastie! In most cases, it doesn’t matter if your system has microbore pipework or has low levels of insulation. If the system is designed and calculated correctly, a heat pump system is suitable for 99% of homes and will still run efficiently!

So, what’s the next step? We will need to perform a full heat loss calculation of your property. This is to find out the size of heat pump and emitters (radiators or UFH) required to keep you warm and toasty. A heat pump system cannot be designed without this crucial element being completed.
Am I eligible for the BUS grant?
For your property to be eligible, your property must be in England or Wales, have a valid EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) for your property (less than 10 years old), and be replacing an existing fossil fuel or electric heating system that doesn’t include a heat pump in order to claim the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. (Other criteria apply for self-builds.)
